It's an All-Star Book Fair: Every Reader Is a Star! – Our book fair is fast approaching!  Students will be visiting the Fair during the school day with their classrooms.  A detailed information letter and flyer will be coming home with each student.  There are many wonderful offerings this year, so please consider supporting the fair, which in turn, supports our school library!  The Book Fair will even be held right upstairs in our library this year!

Reading is vital to every child’s success, so please make plans to visit our Book Fair.  We hope to see you there!

Book Fair Dates: November 5th - 13th, 2012, in the St. James School Library

Our Special Family Event will be Sunday, November 11th, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm - Please come in before or after Sunday Mass and join us for donuts and juice!

Parents, are you worried about having WAY TOO MUCH Halloween candy in your house after trick-or-treating? On November 1 & 2 the Saint James Leadership Council will be collecting excess Halloween candy to donate to our troops overseas. What a great way to help show support for our troops and limit the amount of candy our kids are eating!

The candy will be given to the Hyde Park Pediatric Dentistry.  They will be shipping the candy to OPERATION GRATITUDE.  They will create individual packages and will ship them to our soldiers stationed in war zones overseas.
The St. James PTO is pleased to announce our October Charity Event for Our Daily Bread located in Over the Rhine.

About: Serving Stability & Hope to Those in Need

Our Daily Bread is an Over the Rhine (Cincinnati, Ohio) ministry of hospitality dedicated to serving the needs of the neighborhood residents and those who frequent the area.

The ministry provides stability and hope for its guests and the neighborhood community. It is a place where guests are invited to share a warm meal, receive social services, and to socialize in a caring, supportive and welcoming environment. In 2011, they served almost 200,000 hot meals, snacks and cups of coffee, with an average of about 500 hot meals a day.

Our Daily Bread’s Kid’s Club is an after school program for neighborhood children, ages 5-13, three afternoons a week. Within their facility, a large open room is dedicated to this program.  Inside, children are supervised by our Kid’s Club Coordinator and provided with an after school snack, computer access, and arts and crafts projects.

How Can St. James Help?

Our Daily Bread can use all types of donations and we are asking St. James families for the various items listed below! To make it fun and meaningful for the kids the PTO is conducting a CONTEST (weekly & overall) winners for the most items/money raised by HOMEROOM. Contest winners will enjoy a pizza party along with a special guest.

Items needed by week are as follows:
Week 1 (10/1-5): Change – bring in all your loose change!
Week 2 (10/8-12): Personal hygiene items (shampoo, soap, etc.)
Week 3 (10/15-19): Canned goods
Week 4 (10/22-26): School supplies (crayons, markers, pencils, etc.)
